There are three major casinos in the Ruidoso area.
Billy the Kid Cassino
The racetrack in Ruidoso Downs has a casino behind it. The casino opened in 1999 and now features over 300 slot machines, video poker, and video blackjack. It regularly holds concerts and special giveaways to lure patrons.
Billy the Kid Casino is open from 10 til midnight on the weeks and 1 AM on weekends.
The casino has its own bar and grill, and a turf club during the races. For a unique experience that involves traditional gambling as well as all the excitement of the races, check out Billy the Kid's Casino. It is the only casino actually in Ruidoso.
Casino Apache Travel Center
The Casino Apache travel Center is located on the Mescelaro Apache Indian reservation on Highway 70 between Ruidoso and Tularosa/Alamogordo to the west. It is a smaller facility, more conveniently located in relation to Ruidoso. On your way into town, if you are coming from the west, you should certainly give it a chance. The location also has a convenience store for weary travelers, as well as a gas station that is exempt from the state taxes because it is on the Mescelero Reservation. As a result gas is consistently 2 or 3 cents cheaper per gallon than what you will find in town.
You can gamble on the blackjack tables or play slots.
The casino is upen on Sunday thru thursday 8 AM until 4 AM.
It is open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday.
Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort and Cassino
The Inn of the Mountain Gods is the premiere casino in the Ruidoso area, with 38,000 square feet of gambling goodness. The Casino offers Blackjack, Baccarat, craps, roulette, Texas hold'em poker, slots, and more.
The Inn has a BBQ, Buffet, and resort style resturants. It is situated on the lake, with Big Game Hunting, a High Quality Golf Course, and is still relatively close to Ruidoso, New Mexico.
It is the largest casino in the Ruidoso area and people come from all over the country to stay at the resort. Regular concerts are held and other special events. Check their website for details.
