This is my dog Sox, she is a pit bull. She is quite loveable even though she has numerous medical problems. We adopted her from the vet’s office when she was a little pup. Apparently the highway department found her abandoned along the side of the local highway and they brought her to him. He told us she was a Lab/Shepard mix – boy was he wrong!
We’ve had her for about 9 or 10 years now, and through the years she’s gotten quite sick. When she was about 2 she got a hold of a piece of pressure treated wood and started chewing on it in the backyard, and coincidentally just a few months later she started having seizures. So she gets medicine daily for that – something like, 4 and a half pills of Phenobarbital and some potassium bromide solution. Just recently (within the last year or so) she’s also developed diabetes. So everyday she gets 2 shots of insulin, and we have to be really careful to feed her multiple times daily.
Unfortunately due to her diabetes, practically overnight Sox developed very serious cataracts that prevented her from seeing anything. So in January of 2005 she has surgery to put these plastic lenses in her eyes so she could see again! It totally changed the way her eyes looked, and now when you take pictures of her they reflect all weird, not to mention the surgery cost something around $2500 (holy crap!). Apparently my parents REALLY wanted her to be able to see again.
Now she’s doing well with her new eyes and consistent medicine. She occasionally has seizures, but they’re few and far between, which is really the most you can hope for. Anyway that’s pretty much all the updates for her for now. If I can think of anything else I’ll add it, onto the next pet!

This is Spike, he’s an American short hair cat. He’s almost all black except for a little grey patch above where his balls used to be. I got him for my birthday when I turned 8. He was adopted as a kitten from Lollipop Animal Farm (an adoption shelter near my home town) and when I came home from school he was playing on the couch.
He’s a good old boy, about 13 years old now, he still runs around and plays a little bit with random stuff like straws. We buy him toys but he’s never really been too interested. He loves getting high with the cat nip though, crazy little devil.
His favorite hobby is sleeping, especially if its summertime and there is a room with air conditioning. He eats dry cat food, but he definitely prefers wet. He has no medical issues; I happen to be allergic to him, but I love him all the same. That’s about it for Spike, onto Sasha!
